Two Faces of Musette
Resin Figure Model Kit from Fogger Studios

Unretouched photo.

This is Musette. She's an original faerie from the imagination of Rick Barrows at Fogger Studios. She's almost 8" tall with a wingspan just about as big. I saw her first years ago at a fellow Gremlin's website among some show pictures. I got in touch with Rick and within a few days, I had my own Musette.
That became the green version. The pink version appeared in The Utilmate Airbrush Handbook

.

Her base was made from a large block of maple that I picked up at a local woodworker's supply store. What an adventure it was to cut it! The inward curve was the result of a happy accident with the scroll saw and some new rasps.
Her hair was streaked using V-Rush Pens Nail Art Brushes.

Musette Revisited

Iwata HP Series Airbrushes
This is my second Musette. The first was finsihed in June of 2000. This one began as a sample piece to airbrush at the National Model and Hobby Show in October of 2000. When I got her home, I stripped the paint I had used at the show and began painting her in ernest. My wife, Maxine, suggested the color scheme.

How her skin was airbrushed is in the chapter I wrote on airbrushing models in the
Ultimate Airbrush Book . The book was compiled by Donn and Pamela Shanteau and published by Watson-Guptill.

Her hair was streaked with V-Rush Pens using Crafter's Pick Brush Strokes to add some texture. Then, it was base coated with violet and streaked with violet mixed with copper and gold paint.
